Fulbright Academy - 2006 Annual Meeting

The Fulbright Academy of Science & Technology reminds you that we are holding our 2006 Annual Meeting of members and supporters in St. Louis, Missouri on Friday, 17 February 2006. These meetings are opportunities for members to gather and share their work and their recommendations on how the Academy can better serve its membership.

The meeting will be in the late afternoon, immediately after a career development workshop which we are hosting at the Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The meeting is free and open to the public. If you would like additional information or to sign up for our meeting, just click reply and send us a note.

The AAAS annual meeting is a major event for scientists worldwide, with thousands of attendees. The Fulbright Academy is pleased to be involved in this event through our hosting of a career development workshop.

By using the example of the Fulbright program, the Academy has organized a career development workshop to help people understand the process and procedures for expanding their personal and institutional involvement in overseas research. Each year some 5,000 American students and faculty scientists are directly involved in a Fulbright exchange. About half are going overseas to do research or lecture; the others are serving as local hosts for visiting foreign academics or graduate students. Collaborations in the electronic age will also be discussed. This is a very timely program because 2006 is the 60th Anniversary of the Fulbright Exchange Program.

The career development workshops and the exhibits are free and open to the public. There is a fee for those who wish to attend the AAAS plenary lectures, seminars, and symposia. Rates are listed on the AAAS website. Advance registration is available over the internet until January 20.

New Programs

The Fulbright Academy's new website is now up. The site contains basic information about many of our programs and also contains an interactive section where you can post information about your work and your experiences as a Fulbright grantee.

By posting this information, you will make it easier for other Fulbright grantees to learn about you and your work. Please take the 5-10 minutes and post a story today. This project was partially funded by a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and we gratefully acknowledge their support.
