Conference / Programs

We have several activities

1. Our Annual Conference is a unique opportunity for Fulbright scholars to meet, share their specialized knowledge and learn from others.  The Third Annual Conference will be in Boston, Massachusetts on February 14-17, 2008.  Previous Fulbright Research Conferences were held in Berlin (2006) and Panama (2007).

2.  We are building one-on-one relationships among Academy members by organizing our own  forums and dialogues and by organzing special events at national/regional conferences.  FAST was actively involved in programs in Ecuador, Morocco, Belgium, Germany and the United States.  The programs have addressed topics such as watershed management, environmental policy, forensics, women in science and digital libraries.

3.  We are a research institute / think-tank / knowledge broker.  We host study committees and conduct research projects that allow Fulbright grantees, alumni and other experts to collaborate on research, policy development, and public education.  This work is typically funded by government agencies, foundations, and/or corporations.

4.  We publish bulletin/newsletter and conduct other activities that highlight the innovative work of individual Fulbrighters. Through these activities, we promote science & technology as a career and also support the work of talented individuals.

5.  Since the 60th Anniversary of the Fulbright program in 2006, we have been collecting stories and memories from current and past grantees and their colleagues.  The archive also contains books, reports, and publications by Fulbright grantees.  The information is used to promote  Fulbright exchanges and to build ties among the alumni community

6.  We help young leaders with their professional development.  We promote and support the advancement opportunities that are available through the Fulbright program, and we are also active in helping younger alumni through the transition when they return home.

7.  We build ties among institutions of higher education and other organizations, especially those involved in managing the Fulbright exchange program and those seeking assistance on science & technology issues.
